My DellLatitude 7480 screen freezes and disturbs when I lift it or shake it slightly and stays like that until I turn it off and on again. How can i fix laptop screen freezes when moved?

Driver update

Update windows power management driver. It is possible that the installed driver version is outdated or the windows is not compatible with the downloaded driver and the hardware. It is recommended to download the latest version of the power management driver and graphics driver from the laptop brand support website.  It is recommended to uninstall and install the new graphics driver.

Computer hardware failure

For example, the motherboard may have a short circuit, a damaged graphics card, a damaged memory module, an incompatible memory module, a hard disk failure, or an overheated CPU. The crash has a wide relationship with hardware, and you may need to check and troubleshoot these components one by one.

To laptop freezes when moved slightly reinstallation of memory you can do yourself, check for false soldering. Then remove the removable parts, remove and inspect all connectors, and wipe the socket with a cleaning spray or eraser if possible. After cleaning up, install all components back.

1.First check whether the memory of the laptop is loose, dirty or poorly contacted. After checking, there is no abnormality in the memory. Check whether the CPU and fan are installed properly.

2. Check if there is any error in other parts of the notebook motherboard.

If you find that the notebook hard disk is only connected with a data cable and is not fixed in the hard disk slot, when the laptop moved or lifted, it will cause a poor contact between the hard disk data cable and the motherboard interface, causing the computer to freeze.

3. If you see "Unknown","Warning" or "Error", there are some problems with the hard disk.

If you lift the hard drive by grasping the location of the hard drive, you can fold the hard drive case and stop the spinning platter, which will freeze it. This may also mean that there is a problem with the chip on the motherboard, and moving it causes the motherboard to bend or the chip to disconnect.

LCD cable damaged

Use Remote Desktop to access it from another computer and then put pressure on it. If you end the RDP session, it is likely that the computer is locked. If it is not, the screen is malfunctioning due to poor contact of the display connector. If the computer does crash, it may be that the solder joints are damaged somewhere.

Checking CPU temperature

In some cases, your CPU or GPU may overheat, which will cause a shutdown. For laptops, especially in most cases, they lack sufficient cooling systems for overload gaming, so they are shutdown or crashed due to overheating.

You can use a third-party tool to check the system temperature or touch the back of your laptop.

If the temperature is too high, some measures need to be taken.

Clean the fan tray on the laptop or the CPU heat sink on the desktop.

Replace the silicone grease.

Change the overclocking setting to the default setting.

Check the power adapter

This problem is easy to troubleshoot. When using only the battery, check whether laptop freezes when touch or move the display. If so, then you may need to replace a suitable power adapter or laptop power board. Usually cheap disadvantaged adapters can cause this failure.

Run hardware diagnostics to check if the Dell laptop shuts down when moving

Shut down and restart your computer.

When the Dell logo appears, press F12 immediately.

Select Diagnostics and press Enter.

Lenovo laptop crashes when flexed or moved slightly

Open Lenovo Support website https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ca/en/

Select laptops-select series and select subseries

Run Diagnostics is on the left.

It's possible there is a RAM or motherboard issue.

Disconnect the faulty part

I think a short circuit may occur when you press a key on the keyboard. Depending on the strength of the keys, the pressure may be sufficient to bend, shorting other components, such as the motherboard. So, you try to remove the newly added external parts and use it for a while to see if laptop still keeps freezing when moved.

Update BIOS

Some abnormal failures require a BIOS update. If used incorrectly, BIOS update may cause more fatal problems, so please make sure you know the operation of updating the BIOS or update under the guidance of professionals.

Some motherboards provide an update tool for BIOS settings. If you have a new motherboard, you can easily update it.

However, those with older configurations have a much harder task.

Before performing this process, make sure you have collected all bios information.

Is your hp laptop in warranty coverage? If my diagnosis is correct, you will need to replace the motherboard.HP will charge you for out-of-warranty support, and it will become very expensive for HP to replace motherboards that are out of warranty. This means you want to take it to a store or buy a motherboard and do it yourself. Or consider to buy a new laptop.
