I dropped my iPod touch 4th generation and now the screen sensor isn't working when I try to unlock my iPod. How can I fix this?

1. Clean the iPod Touch Screen

Display Assembly Replacement for touch screen not working on iPod Touch 5th generation:

1. Turn off your device completely.

2. Use a hair dryer or prepare iOpener and apply it to the lower edge of the iPod for about one minute to soften the adhesive.

3. Place the suction cup on the lower part of the glass with its edge cantered over the home button.



4. Lift the suction cup up and toward the top of the iPod. Rise the display from the back shell until the adhesive breaks.


5. From the top right corner of the device, insert the plastic opening tool into the gap between the plastic frame and the rear case. Slide the tool down to release the frame from the frame.


6. Insert the plastic opening tool between the frame behind the first clip and the rear case. Shake the opening tool sideways, unfolding the gap behind the clip and separating it from the back shell.


7. Repeat this process. To release all the clips.


8. Move to the left side of the unit and insert the plastic opening tool into the gap between the plastic frame and the rear case near the top. Slide the opening tool down to release the frame from the frame.


9. In the same procedure, loosen the last clip that secures the plastic frame to the rear case.


10. Insert the plastic opening tool between the display assembly and the rear case near the top of the iPod.

Gently open the tool and lift the front panel from the rear case.

Separate the display unit from the iPod.



11. A heat gun may be required to soften the adhesive on the back of the home button.

Use the plastic opening tool to pick up the home button switch from the LCD panel.



12. Remove the following screws that secure the LCD panel to the rear case.



13. Remove the LCD panel from the iPod.

14. Remove the three 1.6 mm #000 Phillips screws that secure the logic board to the rear case.



15. Turn the iPod over and heat the back of the iPod.

Avoid heating the battery.

Insert the plastic opening tool into the upper right notch and gently pry up the battery. Start loosening the adhesive at each defect.



16. Insert the plastic opening tool into the slot and gently pry up the side of the battery.

17. Continue to pick up the battery from the bottom.



18. After loosening all the adhesive, lift the battery up from the bottom and swing it outward from the left side of the rear case.



19. Turn the battery over to straighten the cable and lower it.

20. Use the flat end of the spudger to flip the front camera out of the socket of the display assembly.



21. Use the tip of the spudger to strip the tape that covers the side screws of the headphone jack.



22. Unscrew the screws that secure the headphone jack, Lightning connector and speaker.



23. Use the flat end of the spudger to pick up the speaker from the back shell.



24. Grasp the ribbon cable and gently pull the Lightning connector assembly out from the bottom.



25. Flip the entire assembly to expose the back of the logic board. Use the plastic opening tool to disconnect the digitizer cable from the logic board.



26. Use the plastic opening tool to disconnect the display cable from the logic board socket.



27. Turn the Lightning connector/logic board assembly over to expose the top of the logic board. Use the flat end of the spudger to peel the display cable from the logic board.



28. Remove the display assembly from the iPod.
