1. Remove the External Screw of MacBook Bottom Cover

With the bottom of the MacBook Pro Retina facing up, use a screwdriver to unscrew the bottom case screws, place the screws in a fixed position to prevent loss and place there moved bottom case aside.

3. Remove the Left and Right Fans of MacBook

First remove the adhesive fixing rubber on the fan, then remove the cable around the right cable, and unplug the button and cable at the lower left. The left and right fans are each fixed by three screws. After removing the screw, the fan can be taken out.

4. Clean Out the Dust on MacBook Pro fan

Each fan has 3 small screws to fix, and the inner fan blades can be seen after being disassembled.Gently clean with a toothbrush and finally reassemble the fan.

5. To Take apart the Heat Tube

On the left side is a screw capped with a rubber cap, from it start to remove.

6. After the screws are completely removed, the heat tube should also be lifted from this side

Apart of the other side of the heat tube is hidden in the plastic clip, and must be carefully taken out. The process of lifting may feel a lot of resistance,which is normal, because the silicone grease may stick very well. You can use a plastic crowbar to assist it and it will be easier to remove.


7. Add Silicone Grease Enhance heat dissipation

You can see that the silicone grease on the CPU and GPU surface of the MacBook is already dry.First clean the dried silicone grease with a soft cloth, then add a thin layer of new silicone grease evenly, keep no air bubbles in the middle.

Pay attention:

In addition to the silicone grease on the CPU, a layer of silicone grease should be applied to the place where the heat sink contacts the CPU.


8. Reassemble the MacBook fan after cleaning

First replace the heat tube, screw on the screw, then install the fan and re-insert the cable.After all the MacBook parts have been installed, reboot to test and finally install the bottom case.
